Urban Park Stage 3 Scheme Completion
Millstone Landscapes Ltd has recently completed the third stage of a five year planting scheme of an urban park area. The project will eventually see us plant over a hundred thousand tree whips and specimen trees. This stage of the planting was carried out from Jan 2014 to the end of Feb 2014, planting in excess of twenty thousand tree whips. The conditions that we had to work in were some of the worst we have encountered in our companies history. The photographs show just how bad the conditions were on site. Photograph 1 shows us moving mulch across the site to the planting areas. The wet conditions meant that we had to increase the density of mulch dramatically and work off boards when planting. Photographs 2,3 & 4 show the conditions during Jan 2014. The mulch was moved by our 20 tonne excavator which was continually getting bogged down. Photograph 5 shows the soaking wet ground conditions. The surface was graded over with our excavator before mulching, which helped soak up some of the surface water. Photograph 6 shows the completed planting zone. Each whip was protected with a shelter that will remain in place for a five year period until the plants have matured. As you can see, through much hard work and tolerance, we still succeeded in completing the area to within our clients deadline.
